An overview of the Mindworks Approach
The Mindworks Approach has at its heart a simple process (click on the image above to view an overview of the steps involved) which ensures that the questions which need to be addressed when developing any organised activity are answered in a systematic way.
These include: identifying those who have needs which must be met; working out what these needs are; identifying different possible means of meeting them; and producing a picture of the future. When this has been done, the next steps involve: looking at the current situation; working out what must change and how; and then implementing and monitoring change.
One of the main principles which underlies the approach is that complex situations are best dealt with by repeating a simple process. In some situations only one pass through the steps is sufficient; in others, repeating the steps enables additional detail to be developed.
The nine-step process is supplemented by a range of tools and techniques which enable different kinds of thinking to be done during the different steps. Combined with a simple way of capturing and organising ideas and the use of straightforward language, the Mindworks Approach can be learnt and applied quickly to many different situations.

The Mindworks Approach is introduced to its users via the Mindworks Box - a unique collection of tools and techniques, bound together by the nine step process and supplemented by Theory Cards which introduce key ideas on one side of A4, a CD-ROM which includes an MP3 audio guide to using the Mindworks Approach, and presentations on specific aspects of the approach
A cut down Starter Pack of material is also available, as is the Mindworks Meeting Box, which includes a pack of our Mindworks Meeting Cards, an explanatory booklet, a timer that can be used in various ways and a CD-ROM. The starter pack is particularly aimed at community and not-for-profit groups which would like to use the Mindworks Approach

Developing ideas
It's
fairly certain that, when he painted the Mona Lisa, Leonardo didn't
start in the top left
hand corner of his canvas, painting all the detail in one go
until
he reached the bottom right hand corner.
Instead, he started with rough sketches, based around an image that was forming in his mind, and gradually added detail, modifying and adjusting his ideas until he produced the masterpiece we know today.
The
ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the
necessary
may speak.
