Seeing the world differently
Innovation
always involves seeing the world in new ways.
Before the Wright brothers'
successful
development of powered flight, aviation pioneers were trying to answer
the question ‘'How can we design an aircraft which is
laterally
stable?’. In other words, they feared that their
aircraft
would roll from side to side and be uncontrollable unless they designed
them not to do so.
The Wright Brothers asked a different question. 'If we accept that an
aircraft will be unstable, what can we do to control
stability?’
Orville and Wilbur Wright developed a brilliant answer to the question.
By working out how to ‘warp’ wing surfaces they
enabled the
pilot to control the roll of the aircraft and achieved one of
mankind’s longest held dreams.
Generating ideas
Two
steps of the Mindworks Approach involve generating ideas. The Mindworks
Approach Starter Pack contains a series of idea generation techniques
which we've found work well in a wide variety of situations. We
can’t promise to help you invent something as amazing as the
Wright Brothers’ breakthrough (that’s been
done). But
if you want to learn how to think clearly and creatively and turn ideas
into results, we have years of experience of working with large
organisations, community groups and small businesses to help them turn
ideas into reality.
Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
